One man was killed and two others were hurt in a head-on collision early on Saturday east of Orillia, Ontario, according to provincial police.
According to a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police, the collision happened on Highway 12 in the township of Ramara, between Sideroad 15 and Concession Road 8.
Just after 2:30 a.m., emergency personnel were summoned to the area, which was located north of the town of Brechin and lawyer car accident.
Michael King, 38, of Brechin has been named by police as the victim of the collision. King was transported from the site to a nearby hospital, where he was discovered to be dead.
According to OPP Sgt. Jason Folz, King’s vehicle, which was traveling north on Highway 12, is thought to have crossed the center line and crashed front-on with a car traveling south.
One of the vehicles’ wreckage was embedded in a tree as a result of the collision.
Folz stated on Saturday that “we are currently gathering evidence and trying to determine the reasons of the crash.”
The driver of the southbound car, a guy, was transported by paramedics to a trauma center outside Toronto after suffering critical but non-life-threatening injuries.
A female passenger in the southbound car sustained minor wounds.
Highway 12 has reopened in the village of Ramara after being closed between Sideroad 15 and Concession Road 8.
